Types of licenses
There are 2 ways that we license content viewing in the BI platform:
In this reports the client is experiencing an issue in Web Intelligence where the Calendar Year/Month shows up in the following format “200,702”
Here’s an example below from Web Intelligence
You can test out the Calendar Year/Month by creating a variable “TestCalendarYear”using the IsNumber function
This proves we are working with a number; you could also use the following
So now we will have to convert this number to a date, first we will format the number by using FormatNumber() Function
Next convert the number to date by using the ToDate() Function
ToDate(FormatNumber([Calendar Year/Month];”#######”); “yyyyMM”)
And then Format the date in the proper format using FormatDate() Function
=FormatDate(ToDate(FormatNumber([Calendar Year/Month];”#######”); “yyyyMM”); “Mmm yyyy”)
Here’s what then end result variable looks like
And the output in Web Intelligence
The result we were looking for.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at email@example.com
Here I needed to create a variable using some if logic
One you create a report using Web Intelligence creating variables can be very useful to create flags for filtering.
On the left hand side you’ll see a variable folder
Information Design Tool
The Information Design Tool (IDT) is the new tool in the Business Objects 4.0 toolset that is used to build universes. In the Business Objects 3.1 suite the tool used to design universes was the universe design tool. The universe design tool does come with the Business Objects 4.0 package but it is basically used for .unv universes(old) . The Information Design Tool creates universes that have a .unx ending.
In order to create a universe with the Information Design Tool (IDT) you have to do the following:
- Create a Project
- Create a Connection
- Create a Data foundation
- Create a Business layer
- Last part is to publish the Universe so Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports and other tools can utilize the universe.
Now let’s dive deeper into each area
First we have to launch the Information Design Tool, go to ‘Start Menu’ ->’SAP Business Intelligence’ – >’SAP Business Objects BI Platform 4 Client Tools’
